Restore Fullness to your Face with Dermal Fillers

What are dermal fillers?

As you age, your skin loses elasticity and begins to sag. Dermal fillers diminish facial lines and restore volume to your face. These fillers reverse this by plumping treated areas. They can plump thin lips, enhance shallow contours, soften creases, remove wrinkles, and improve the appearance of scars. Dermal fillers can be helpful in early signs of aging.

What are dermal fillers used to fix?

How do they work?

Dermal fillers are synthetic material that is injected into the skin to plump any area. The effects can last from six months to two years. A filler can stimulate your body to produce collagen over time. The treatment will take between 15 and 30 minutes. The amount of injections and type of fillers vary.

How are they different than Botox?

Although both procedures involve injections, Botox is mostly used for crow’s feet and other wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. Botox stops muscle movement that results in wrinkles and doesn’t plump and smooth the skin like dermal fillers.

What do dermal fillers accomplish?

What can I expect?

You may feel a stinging or burning sensation as the filler is injected. Most patients can return to everyday activities after leaving the doctor’s office.  To reduce swelling, icing the area for 15 to 20 minutes may be recommended. After the treatment, you may have redness, swelling, tenderness and/or bruising. Stay out of the sun, avoid touching the treated area, and wait 48 hours to do any strenuous activity.
