What are chemical peels?

A chemical peel is used to rejuvenate the skin on the face, neck or hands. A chemical solution is applied on the skin that acts as an exfoliator that peels off. The new layer of skin will leave you looking brighter and younger. Both PCA skin peels and Vi Peels are performed at Anne Arundel Dermatology.

What is a Vi Peel?

These peels produce powerful results with no pain, no skin preparation, and very little downtime. Vi Peels are used to reverse signs of aging and sun damage on the skin as well as reverse the effects of environmental pollutants on your skin. The Vi Peel corrects skin problems at the cellular level, rather than just the top skin level. The combined actions of acids and vitamins erase fine lines and wrinkles, remove actinic keratoses (a rough, scaly patch on the skin caused by sun exposure), shrink enlarged pores, and build collagen and elastin to tighten skin.

What is a PCA Skin Peel?

These peels exfoliate dead skin cells and help healthy skin cells come to the surface. PCA Peel treatments allow deeper layers of new skin to be revealed. They are light-to-medium depth peel formulas that can help repair and reduce breakouts, control oil, soften lines and provide a more even, smooth skin texture.

What are the benefits of chemical peels?

You should consider a chemical peel if:

Where can you get them done?

Chemical peels are available at your dermatologist’s office. The type of peel you receive should be decided based on a certified professional’s assessment of your skin and decision of what type of peel is safest and will be most effective.

What is the recovery time?

Depending on the type of treatment, recovery time can range from 1-7 days. All peels require some at-home care after the procedure. You should moisturize as directed to keep your skin hydrated. After the peel, your skin will be red. After the redness subsides it is normal for scaling to occur and last for 3-7 days.
