Dermatopathology

Our highly trained, board-certified dermatopathologists provide a full range of diagnostic services utilizing a broad scope of diagnostic tools including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, FISH and other molecular genetic studies.

We have our dermatopathology team working in our dedicated laboratory. The 10,200 square foot facility serves our 60+ locations. Our laboratory is directed by a physician who is triple-boarded in dermatology, pathology, and dermatopathology. Our lab is staffed from 3:00 am until 7:00 pm so that biopsy results are available more quickly. Lab personnel has access to patient charts to facilitate patients’ diagnoses.

Located in Glen Burnie, Maryland, the lab is a CLIA-certified, 10,200 square foot facility complete with the latest equipment from ThermoFisher Scientific, Leica and Sakura.

When you need us, the Anne Arundel dermatopathologists will work closely with you and our own physicians to provide the pathologic interpretations of skin specimens for diagnosing a wide range of conditions. The result of this consultative approach can positively impact your patient care.

She has more than 25 years of experience that includes the pathology departments of Francis Scott Key, Johns Hopkins Bayview, HistoPath of America, and the dermatology and surgery departments of Johns Hopkins University Medical Center. She is also a long-standing member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the National Society for Histotechnology. Shelby is dedicated to building successful relationships with our contributing physicians by providing superior service, rapid turnaround and direct accessibility to address any questions and concerns.
