Meet Dr. Goncharuk

Viktor N. Goncharuk, MD, FCAP is a board-certified dermatopathologist with 22 years of experience and is a key member of the medical staff at Ball DermPath, an affiliate of Anne Arundel Dermatology, in Greensboro, NC. Dr. Goncharuk is certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as dermatopathology. He earned his medical degree (MBBS) from Vinnitsa Pirogov Memorial State Medical University in Vinnitsa, Ukraine, and completed a three-year residency in ophthalmology at the Regional Teaching Hospital for the Ministry of Railroads in Odessa, Ukraine, followed by a fellowship in ophthalmological microsurgery at the Center for Eye Microsurgery in Kiev, Ukraine. After serving as Chief of Ophthalmology Services at the Regional Hospital for the Ministry of Railroads in Kotovsk, Ukraine, and later as a Clinical Instructor at the V.P. Filatov Scientific Research Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy in Odessa, Dr. Goncharuk continued his training in the United States at Albany Medical Center, completing a pathology observership and a four-year residency in anatomical and clinical pathology. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in surgical pathology and dermatopathology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.  

Dr. Goncharuk previously practiced for 22 years at the nationally recognized Pinkus Dermatopathology Laboratory and has served as an associate professor at Wayne State University and at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he contributed to the education and graduation of more than 90 dermatology residents. His clinical interests include common and neoplastic dermatopathology, with particular expertise in atypical melanocytic lesions and melanoma, alopecia, inflammatory dermatoses, and cutaneous adnexal tumors.  

Dr. Goncharuk is an elected fellow and laboratory inspector for the College of American Pathologists and is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the American Society of Dermatopathology, the American Academy of Dermatology, and state medical societies.
