Dr. Newman Retirement Letter

October 1st, 2020
Anne Arundel Dermatology

To My Patients:

The COVID 19 pandemic forced the closure of our office as of March 16 for our patients and staff’s safety. Since then, I have worked remotely to refill prescriptions and care for our patients’ needs as they have called upon us. This has been a challenging and transformative time for individuals and society the world over. Personally, because of our ages, my wife and I have been homebound. Sadly, I have concluded that it is best to retire at the end of September under the current circumstances.

The good news is that Anne Arundel Dermatology, a respected practice with over 40 years of experience in Anne Arundel County and surrounding areas, will be taking over my practice. Anne Arundel Dermatology shares a similar philosophy of personal service. I have known several of their Dermatologists over the years and have referred all my Mohs surgery cases and Phototherapy patients to them for specialized care. They eventually plan to take over the same space in Sajak 650. Until that time, they have two close and convenient options in Annapolis at 101 Ridgely Ave, Ste 10, Annapolis, MD 21401 and at 600 Ridgely Ave, Suites 120 & 123 Annapolis, MD 21401.

This will benefit you in many ways. In the near future look for:

Centralized phone hours for more convenient appointment scheduling.

Centralized billing.

State-of-the art electronic health records.

Expanded participation with insurance carriers

Anne Arundel Dermatology is offering TeleHealth visits when available. For a follow up visit, you may call Anne Arundel Dermatology at 443-351-3376 or visit AADermatology.com. Your medical records will remain at our office which will undergo renovations.

Your health records are confidential, and Anne Arundel Dermatology will continue to maintain them at their office. A copy of your records will be released to you or to any new health care provider of your choosing with your written permission. Anne Arundel Dermatology will release the records within 30 days of your request. There may be a reasonable, cost-based fee (including copying and delivery costs) assessed to send your record.

Wishing you all good health and all the best.

Sincerely,

Gerald W. Newman, M.D.,

Fellow American Academy of Dermatology
