What is Microneedling?

We’ve seen it in the news: Microneedling a breakthrough treatment to help with various skin conditions. But what is Microneedling, exactly?

Microneedling is a treatment that uses tiny needles to pierce the skin to allow new collagen to grow. The procedure uses the natural healing abilities of your skin to reduce fine lines, scars, and wrinkles. After the treatment, your skin will allow for better penetration of products and more collagen will be sent to the epidermis, leaving you with healthy, radiant skin. Microneedling is one of the most powerful and effective ways to stop early signs of aging and prevent new fine lines and wrinkles from occurring.

What are the benefits?

  • Smooth rough skin and even skin texture
  • Reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
  • Lighten scars from surgery, acne, or illness
  • Shrink large pores
  • Reduce sun damage
  • Rejuvenate aging skin

What is the recovery time?

After your procedure, it’s common to experience mild redness and swelling. This can last for 2-4 days. Some patients may notice slight bruising or several tiny blood spots that will disappear in 24-48 hours. Patients should avoid chemical peels, makeup, and sun exposure for several days following the procedure. Your provider will provide further details on what to expect following your procedure.

Where can you get the procedure?

Although there are at-home kits for Microneedling, it is best to have the procedure performed by a trained professional to ensure the best care and results.
