Meet Dr. Shenk

Dr. Mary Beth Shenk is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist with clinical interests in geriatric dermatology, melanoma, high-risk nonmelanoma skin cancers, supportive oncodermatology, inflammatory dermatoses, acne, surgical dermatology, and dermatopathology. She brings a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to care, combining compassion, clinical precision, and a dedication to solving complex dermatologic concerns. 

Dr. Shenk earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Missouri before completing her Master of Health Services Administration at the University of Michigan and her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Missouri. She completed a transitional year internship at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, followed by dermatology residency at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri. Dr. Shenk also completed fellowship training in dermatopathology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. 

Throughout her training and academic career, Dr. Shenk has been recognized for her leadership, scholarship, and commitment to medical education. She was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha in 2018, served as Chief Resident at the University of Missouri from 2022 to 2023, and was named Rookie Teacher of the Year by the University of Maryland Department of Dermatology in 2026. Dr. Shenk also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. 

Her dual expertise in dermatology and dermatopathology allows Dr. Shenk to integrate clinical findings with microscopic analysis to support accurate diagnoses and individualized treatment plans. Dr. Shenk is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatopathology, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. 

Originally from the Midwest, where she grew up on a farm, Dr. Shenk brings a grounded perspective and strong work ethic to her practice. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their two young children, and their two yellow Labradors.
