Back to Business Botox®

Summer is ending, and it is time to resume a normal work routine. With COVID-19 vaccination rates rising, businesses and schools are returning to regular schedules. As you’re getting more face time with family, friends, and colleagues, it is time to look your best.

Even if you’ve never considered it before or you took a break from treatments during the pandemic, Botox® can help brighten your appearance, reducing your fine lines and wrinkles no matter your age.

Botox® is a toxin made from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It blocks nerve signals and prevents contractions when injected into your muscles, relaxing those crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. In the short term, it makes those lines less noticeable. Over time, it can prevent your wrinkles from becoming more pronounced.

So, what can you expect from your initial visit, and why should you consider starting preventative Botox® in your 20s or 30s?

Your First Visit

Your first appointment will take a little longer since you’ll talk about your treatment goals and expectations with your specialist. It’s also an excellent time to ask any questions or share your concerns.

The procedure itself takes less than 10 minutes. Your specialist will use micro-needles to give you 1-to-3 injections. The treatment is relatively painless, but if you’re worried about any discomfort, ask for ice or a numbing cream for the treated area.

After the procedure, apply ice and pressure to control any potential swelling. Avoid bending over or lying down for 4 hours, and give yourself a day off from the gym. Try not to rub the area for 24 hours, so you don’t accidentally spread the Botox®.

You’ll see the full effects of the treatment within 7-to-14 days.

Getting an Early Start

So, when is the best time to get started? Realistically, the answer is whenever you’re ready. But, starting preventative Botox® in your 20s or 30s can be a great way to get ahead of the aging process and keep you from fighting deeper, permanent wrinkles later on.

Dynamic wrinkles – those that appear only when you move your facial muscles – can show up in your 20s. They’re typically caused by sun damage and smoking. “Baby Botox®” can make them less noticeable with fewer injections and smaller doses. The effects usually last between 3 and 6 months.

Once you’re in your 30s, you might see more lines starting to form. Botox® can limit the movement of your muscles to soften your crow’s feet and glabellar furrows – those vertical lines between your eyebrows.

It’s Never Too Late

If you’re already past your 20s or 30s, don’t worry. Deeper lines are a natural part of aging. Botox® can’t reverse the process, but it can still help refresh your face and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

There’s no age limit for when you can start Botox®. In your 40s, 50s, or 60s, it can soften and smooth out deeper lines that come from stress, sun damage, smoking, and alcohol. As a result, you get a more natural-looking, youthful appearance.
