Lip Fillers
Fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane work to treat these fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of volume in the face. Both Juvederm and Restylane are hyaluronic acid fillers, which is a naturally occurring molecule found in our bodies. HA (hyaluronic acid) helps to restore moisture and volume to the skin. When filler is injected directly to the lips and Vermillion border, it creates volume and brings back definition, leading to a fuller, poutier lip while still producing a soft, natural appearance.
Lip Flip
Alternatively, a new popular cosmetic treatment for the lips is the Lip Flip. The Lip Flip uses Botox or Dysport – which are neuromodulators (yes – the same Botox you get in your forehead!), to relax the orbicularis muscle in the top lip. By injecting Botox or Dysport in this muscle, the top lip is encouraged to relax and ‘flip’ outwards to give the illusion of a subtle, fuller lip. It is a popular choice for those wanting to correct a gummy smile, or for someone who doesn’t want to add volume.
