Meet Dr. McKay

Dr. McKay is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. He earned his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, followed by a residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Following residency, Dr. McKay completed two fellowships at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, one in dermatopathology and another in soft tissue pathology.

After his time in Houston, Dr. McKay worked at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) as Director of the Dermatopathology Division and Dermatopathology Fellowship Program Director. During his time at UAB, he served a thriving and diverse Dermatology practice that included an active skin lymphoma and alopecia referral center. He also developed the Dermatopathology curriculum for the Dermatology residency program, trained medical students, and provided mentorship to dermatopathologists in their first two years in practice.

In the area of private practice, Dr. McKay has worked at various offices, serving patients in 24 states, including Georgia and the Carolinas.

As a mentor, Dr. McKay finds it very rewarding to provide new dermatopathologists with practical skills not taught in an academic environment. As a professional in the field, he enjoys utilizing his specialized skillset in challenging and unusual neoplasms, dermatitis, alopecia, and skin lymphomas to facilitate good patient outcomes and patient care.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. McKay enjoys spending time with his two young daughters and outdoor activities.
