Research & Clinical Trials
At Anne Arundel Dermatology, clinical research plays an important role in advancing dermatologic care and developing new treatment options.
Eligible individuals may have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials evaluating new treatments for a variety of skin conditions. By participating in clinical research, you can help researchers better understand how to improve patients' lives.
Advancing Dermatology Through Clinical Research
Clinical trials allow our research teams to evaluate new and emerging therapies before they become widely available. These studies help researchers better understand how investigational treatments work, evaluate their safety and effectiveness, and identify new approaches to dermatologic care.
Research opportunities vary based on currently enrolling studies and may be available for both adult and pediatric patients.
Why Participate in a Clinical Trial?
Choosing to participate in clinical research is a personal decision. For eligible patients, participation may provide an opportunity to:
- Access investigational treatment options that may not yet be widely available
- Receive study-related medical care and diagnostic testing at no cost
- Receive careful evaluation and monitoring throughout the study
- Learn more about your skin condition and potential treatment options
- Receive compensation for time and travel when offered by the study
- Contribute to research that may help improve dermatologic care for future patients
What to Expect
Meeting the initial criteria does not necessarily mean you will qualify for a study. Our research team will complete a screening process to determine whether a clinical trial is appropriate for you.
- Find a Clinical Trial - Review currently enrolling clinical trials to see if a study may be available for your skin condition.
- Complete a Pre-Screening - If your'e interested in participating, our research team will ask you questions to determine whether you may meet the initial eligibility requirements for the study
- Educate Yourself - You will be provided detailed information on the clinical trial that will outline the purpose, expectations, and potential risks and benefits.
- Decide If a Study is Right for you - Participation in clinical research is voluntary. The decision to participate is yours, and participants can opt out at any time.
